I’ve been sailing away on Jingle, Jangle, Jingle, the next book in the Rainbow Ranch Mysteries series, making good progress and really enjoying writing this book. It’s one of those rare stories that pretty much all I have to do is sit at my computer, watch the movie that starts playing in my head, and then type very fast.
Of course, I did some preplanning, but not nearly as much as I’ve been doing recently. And so I’m largely making it up as I go. This is such fun for a writer!
But then…
Life Happened
My mom passed away on September 30th. It was not unexpected. She was 98 years old and had lived a long, fulfilling life.
But 98 years is a long time when neither your body nor you mind is working anywhere near as well as it used to, and she was ready to go home. A couple of months ago, I met with my sister and brother and we decided to put her into hospice care. It was not an easy decision, but I believe it was the right one.
And now she is buried next to my father. The burial service was perfect, I reconnected with several cousins I hadn’t seen in a long while, but am still working on closure. I’m sure that will come in time.
Back to It
Fortunately, I picked up on Jingle, Jangle, Jingle shortly after I got home. The first draft is complete, and I have now moved on to revisions. Which is a good thing, because the pre-order releases on November 26th, which isn’t all that far away in publishing time.
