A Sweet Romance That Will Not Disappoint

I’ve read a lot of books by Misty Beller. She’s a prolific writer with twelve series ranging in length from three books to twelve books each. I’ve read so many from purchases, KU borrows, and a few offered as free downloads, that I recently created a spreadsheet to track which books I have and haven’t read. This is because KU books, once they’re returned, don’t show as Read on Amazon, which I recently discovered with another author. If you buy it, it shows up in your library as read, but not before. Then you have to decide whether to return it or keep it (Because if you don’t remember reading it, you probably don’t remember whether you liked it enough to keep or not.).

But enough of that diversion.

In between the last book I reviewed and this one, I started three other books, none of which grabbed me enough to keep me reading. I hate to write them off, so I didn’t dump them into my Stopped Reading Collection, but I was really looking for one of those comfort reads that fulfills your expectations without a struggle.

Honor’s Mountain Promise was just that book.

It’s about Katie, a young, pregnant bride who starts on a journey west with her husband to build a new life. However, her husband passes before they reach their destination, leaving her abandoned. She’s committed to completing the journey, but is unable to do it on her own. Aaron, a freighter, offers to take her on the next leg of her trip, and having no other means of continuing, she accepts his invitation.

Aaron has his own problems, of course. Long before the story opens, he had broken a leg which didn’t heal properly, and so he walks with a limp and a lot of pain. He’s a man of faith and frequently calls on God when faced with a problem. And they have plenty of problems.

As they spend so much time together and face situations in which they take turns relying on one another, their relationship grows. Neither one was looking for a partner, much less a spouse, but neither of them can deny the attraction.

Misty M. Beller has a talent for writing sweet, Christian romances. She builds passion without pornography, fulfilling the desire with a kiss. She also blends prayers and Biblical references into the story seamlessly, without resorting to preaching for long passages. It’s a good thing she is a prolific writer, because I can’t wait to read another of her books.
